What is VCClient / VCmain?

VCClient and VCmain are assocciated with Surf Sidekick. You can get more information on Surf Sidekick at www.surfsidekick.com. VCClient actually delivers ads to your computer.

It will be loaded in:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\VCClient\VCClient.exe

VCClient disabled the Task Manager on my system.

Problems you may see:

  • Pop-up upon logon about "VCMain.exe" and "VCClient.exe"

  • Sluggish PC performance

  • Solicitations to purchase false spyware/malware removal software

  • Errors followed by PC shutdown Can not access the Internet or any other programs

If you are lazy like me, you may want to just do a system restore to remove the VCClient/VCMAIN Surf Sidekick registry keys.

The first step is to reboot the system in Safemode:

Reboot and go into Safe Mode

Reboot your computer and HIT the “F8” Funtion Key like crazy If it doesn’t, work try again. The system should ask you what mode you want to boot in. You want “Safe Mode” or “Safe Mode with Networking” MORE ON SAFE MODE

Once in Safe Mode, you will be prompted with a dialog box that looks like this:

Select "No".

The System Restore Wizard should allow you to restore your system to the configuration you had BEFORE the system was infected. However, this depends on how far back you can go. You'll have to choose a date prior to the VCClient infection. If you are not sure when, then this could be a problem.

And don't worry System Restore will not delete any of your files, but it WILL reverse any changes you made in the Registry. If for example, you've made a Security Policy change it may remove it.
