If you get a Chi iron for less than $100 it is likely to be counterfeit. Chi has now closed all factories in China and moved everything back to Houston Texas. He said he has plenty of revenue and can afford to cut his profits in order to restore his product's reputation. He also says the jobs are needed in America; and wants to bring all of his money back to working Americans. I've use these irons for many years now and although I have head of some people having problems, I never had. I use them in the salon and at home and sell them. The only one I've ever had returned from a customer was the mini blow dryer.

I agree, it's not worth buying it online for a discount unless you know you're getting a legitimate product. I've looked all over and Striking Image Salon is the only online store that sells a legitimate Chi for under $100.

I asked my stylist (also the salon owner) about getting a Chi online for cheap and she told me that the ONLY distributors of the (real) Chi in America have never lowered their price below $80. So how do some of these stores sell it for less? They buy it from overseas where the counterfeits are made.

I wouldn't even trust Folica to have a legitimate product. You will also notice that Striking Image Salon is also the only online retailer willing to offer a free replacement "no questions asked" of the Chi for 1 year.

I've delved deep into the topic of the quality of the Chi Flat Iron and came down to the brunt of the problem. Most Chi's sold online, and many if not all Chi's sold at chain stores such as Target or Sam's Club are counterfeit. That's right, COUNTERFEIT! That's why the warranty is void unless you buy it from a professional salon because salons all get their products from the same few distributors.
Online stores and grocery stores will put any product on their shelves/website as long as it sells. They don't go researching whether the person selling the product is really an authorized distributor or not. And especially for the online stores, all they want is to have the best price.
So obviously if you buy a counterfeit Chi you're not likely going to get the quality product that you would if it were made by Farouk Systems (the ones that have to live with their name).
There you have it. If you talk to Farouk Systems about it they'll tell you the same story. They say they have several law suits pending on many different stores...but those law suits take time to go through.
I know Striking Image Salon is offering a great price on the product, and I've done my research to know they sell a legitimate product. I haven't found any other online store that might be legite, except maybe Folica. Except Folica is more expensive than Striking Image Salon.
