Working as a Call Center Agent
In every profession we choose no matter what it may be there are always a pros and cons. One of the pros of working at a technical support call center is that it does not require any certification from school or degree. In the Philipines, the age limit is 18 years old above. As long as you can speak English very well and know how to use a computer, you are qualified.

Training
Once you are hired, most call center companies conduct a free training. This training can take two to three months. Once the training is complete you can work either as technical support or customer service representative.

Career Promotion
Promotion is this industry is not hard, as long as you are knowledgeable of the position and have performed well in your previous position, promotion is possible. Depending on the company, you can get promoted in as early as 6 months unlike other regular day jobs where you have to be employed for 5 years or more to be considered for a higher position.

Technical Support Rep
In my current job I work as a technical support representative at one of the most competitive companies here in the Philippines they provide telecommunication and Internet connection, so my task is to receive a calls everyday assisting customers every time they have a concern regarding on their Internet connection or their telephone connection. We assist in basic computer troubleshooting in order to restore the customers connection, however when we cannot restore the connection, we do reports to make a coordination to our field technicians to check their connection thru outside facility like in the network or either in the cables in our outside facility.

CONs
Its nice to serve the customer in some way. But unfortunately we receive calls from very upset or irate subscribers who have not had their connection restored in a long time. Customers also get upset about recurring problems with their Internet connection. After a couple of days of having no connection or bad connection the customer wants to call and take their anger out of the Technical Support Rep.

Sickness & Health
Certain illness can have an effect on Technical Support calls. But in a large technical support center you cannot leave your station even if you have illness’ like Laryngitis, Tonsillitis, Kidney problem or UTI. You can go to the restroom during your break time and you have to work even during holidays and most specially if the account, project or program pulls out their business from your company, you will either be forced to resign or to transfer to another account.

The ever changing trend in technology brought the necessity for the automation of everything from paper-and-pen based to absolute computer domination. The overwhelming emergence of computers paved way to easier access of information that leads to increased production, efficiency and reliability.

The increasing urbanity of modern information system allows the information and communication technologies to be utilized in different actions. In fact, the educational institutions are one of the leading users of computer applications in order to manage student data.

Student Record System (SRS) is a computer application that deals with the generation, collection, organization, storage, retrieval and dissemination of recorded knowledge. SRS provide capabilities for entering student information, building a student record and managing other student – related data needs in the school.

In the light of recent high profile cases there is increased emphasis being placed on all institutions to be able to demonstrate good record management. The effective management of records ensures sound decisions based on full, accurate and up-to-date information and by ensuring that the underlying principles behind those decisions can be traced, scrutinized and justified as necessary.

This breakthrough gave way to the development of databases which became useful for storing data for important information.
In the development of database management system, the organization of storage of data was prioritized. A DBMS controls the creation, maintenance and use of the database storage structures of educational institutions of their users. It allows institutions to place control of institution wide database development in the hands of Database Administrators (DBAs) and other specialists.

An SRS provide the following benefits:
1.	It helps facilitate decisions about courses students should take and assist with problems that may arise
2.	It assist with monitoring accountability and future planning
3.	It helps teachers make instructional decisions and to obtain specific information that may assist in working with a student
4.	It helps evaluate the success of various programs in a certain curriculum

It is 2011 and the economy is still limping along. Despite the slump in economic prosperity around the word, there is still a demand for jobs. Here are some tricks that have allowed me to not be affected at all by the recession.

I have put together a quick list of 5 things I have done to get jobs quickly.

1) Advertise yourself! – Post your resume on indeed.com, monster.com, simplyhired.com, linkedin.com. Create a blog and talk about your industry.

There are a few job search engines that allow you to search the web for decent jobs in ANY career field. And these sites are equal or better than monster.com:
http://www.indeed.com
http://www.simplyhired.com

2) Use keywords related to the field on your resume and put in online – Employers searching through resumes are focusing on keyword/phrases.

3) Talk to job recruiters – Employers often use job recruiters to find workers. So, these recruiters have constant access to many different opportunities.

4) Check the current trend in your industry - Be aware of what is going on in the industry you are in. Use indeed.com/jobtrends to search keywords

5) Be willing to travel & negotiate travel – being willing to give a little to an employer can make you more attractive to an employer.

Google+ seems to bring everything together. All Google’s products and services are being reigned in the the power of +You.

For example, if you use Google’s Picasa, Google+ enhances the service by fully integrating the content of Picasa into the their social network. If you use Android, you’ll be able to take a picture, load it into Picasa, then make it available to your “Circle” in Google+. The name Picasa supposedly changing to “Google Photos” but for now its just a rumor.

Other fully integrated services and products include (but are not limited to): Gmail & Youtube.

Facebook has some major competition brewing!

I am trying to infiltrate google’s newest project!!

Google is getting into facebook’s swimlane.. again.

They tried with Google Wave and Google Buzz and now they have a new secret weapon… google+.
You have experienced their incredibly useful tools displayed

We “google” everything. Their tools are a household name as handy as any appliance in our homes. The tabs on the google page are etched in our minds: Web | Images | Video | Maps | News | Shopping .. etc

Google+ will add “YOU” to the tab. This will allow us to completely personalize and compartmentalize our contacts. One of the weakness’ of Facebook is its clumsy means sharing information. For example, when you accept a friend they are automatically able to shared all the data you put up. You can group friends into groups, but it is not transparent. Google Circles will hopefully fix that. From the horses mouth: Circles will be “The easiest way to share some things with college buddies, others with your parents, and almost nothing with your boss.”

Other tools in the YOU tab will include:
Hangout:
Let friends know you’re free for a video hangout, any time, anywhere. Then catch up, watch YouTube, or… just hangout.

Sparks:
A feed of just the stuff you’re really into, so when you’re free, there’s always something waiting to be watched, read, or shared.

Huddle:
Texting is great, but not when you’re trying to get six different people to decide on a movie. Huddle turns all those different conversations into one simple group chat, so everyone gets on the same page all at once. Your thumbs will thank you.

Instant Upload:
Taking photos is fun. Sharing photos is fun. Getting photos off your phone is pretty much the opposite of fun. With Instant Upload, your photos and videos upload themselves automatically, to a private album on Google+. All you have to do is decide who to share them with.

For more info on google Plus check them out here

http://www.google.com/intl/en/+/demo/

I hope it does well

7/7/2011, 1am: I am in Google+. My access is very very limited and I cannot invite yet, but so far I must say LOL.. its beautiful.
Google is really doing it right. Facebook, Microsoft and others will have to follow their lead on this one. Wow!!!

<g:plusone size="tall"></g:plusone>

A friend of mine is having trouble finding a job. She is in the medical field, so I am VERY surprised about this.

According to US News, health care jobs are among the top 50 best careers to get into for 2010 and 2011.

Many of the occupations on this list rank at the top of the Labor Department’s growth projections for 2008 to 2018, largely because millions of aging baby boomers will continue to place heightened demand on healthcare providers. — US News, Best Careers 2011

There is obviously a high demand for many of the occupations within the health care industry, so I am at a loss as to why she is having trouble finding a good job. I told her about monster.com, but this did not yield as many results as I thought. So now I am thinking that there must be some healthcare specific search engines that she can try. Here is what I found:

Health Career Web – Allows you to search 1000s of jobs in the health care industry

http://www.healthcareerweb.com/

Health eCareers - Health Care & Medical Jobs

http://www.healthecareers.com/

Career Builder (Health Care Jobs)

http://health-care.careerbuilder.com/

Absolutely Health Care

http://www.healthjobsusa.com/

There are a few job search engines that allow you to search the web for decent jobs in ANY career field. And these sites are equal or better than monster.com:
http://www.indeed.com
http://www.simplyhired.com

This site has a breakdown of many of the positions in the health care world:
Health Care Guide

http://www.khake.com/page22.html

Another thing to be mindful of is that its important to have credentials in the health care career field. This is means, certificates, degrees, experience, license. Remember you are competing with many others going after the same positions.

An Ishikawa diagram is also sometimes called a “fishbone” diagram because when it is completed, the result is usually an image of fish bones radiating off of a core spine. It was originally developed by a Japanese quality management processes which facilitates in determining the key relationship among various processes for application in process improvement. This diagram may also refer to as the cause and effect diagram.

Based on my experience, Ishikawa diagram is the basic need in order for you to create an effective system for companies. One of my project before was to develop a Billing and Reservation System for a specific hotel. I will explain here how to create Ishikawa diagram for a hotel, or you might use this as a basis for your project.

Steps in creating Ishikawa diagram:

1.	List the problem/issue to be studied in the head of the fish. You should always put the problem/issue at the head of the fish because from the head of the fish originates the main branch of the diagram.
2.	Now you must identify the major categories that cause the problem. In doing this, you can use the 6M’s which are the Machine, Method, Materials, Measurement, Man and Mother nature. But what’s on the image attached is only 4M’s since my professor only required the 4Ms. Label each fishbone with the 6Ms or 4Ms.
3.	After identifying the major causes, you must now identify the sub-causes of the 4Ms or 6Ms you use.
4.	After listing the major causes and sub-causes you may now analyze your diagram. Analyze the results of the fish bones; make sure that adequate amount of detail has been provided under each major category.

Now, doing Ishikawa Diagram is not easy as you think, you must conduct research especially on the company where the system you are developing intended for. You should analyze the image below for proper understanding.

One of the reasons I failed the CCENT was that I didn’t prepare for router/switch simulators that are on the test. I knew the theory and concepts behind Interconnecting Cisco network devices, but I hadn’t spent much time on the command line of an actual router. Since the test is timed you don’t have a lot of time to try to figure commands out on the fly. You certainly can, because Cisco command line is pretty user friendly.

To prepare for the test you must be comfortable in the Internetwork Operating System (IOS). That is why my CCNA, CCNP buddies encouraged me to set up my own Cisco network. They told me how to buy them cheap, what components to buy and how I should actually network them to prep for the Cisco certs.

Cheap Cisco Equipment:
Talking about what actual Cisco models to buy in this post will not be effective since anything I name will be completely obsolete by the time you read this. But I will tell you that my CCNA/CCNP friends recommended buying old Cisco equipment from ebay and Craig’s list. And even schooled me on what was a good deal. In some cases I would just give them money and they would buy if for me. I ended up buying a lot of stuff I don’t need but you are more than likely much smarter with your money.

What to Buy:
They told me that it was important to buy two switches and two routers to practice with routing protocols and spanning tree. They explained that it is important to understand the behavior of the technologies in order to know how to troubleshoot. Theory is important too, but to prepare for the CCENT you must get comfortable with the command line interface so you don’t waste time figuring out basic stuff on the fly.

DIAGRAM:
Build a diagram first! This is difficult for me because I like to just jump in and try things. But creating a network diagram and understanding what it is you want to set up is very important.

Virtual Cisco LAB:
Another very useful tool for those who really can not afford to drop $100 dollars on old Cisco equipment is the use GNS3. Its like a VM Ware for Cisco IOS. It allows you to create a virtual network and mess around with actual Cisco IOS. Its really pretty cool… and (best of all) it free!! Aside from air, I am not sure there is anything more useful. Its is a great tool if you are serious about studying for the CCENT/CCNA/CCNP.

SSL is the short term for Secure Sockets Layer. It is a protocol designed to enable applications to transmit information back and forth securely. Applications that used Secure Sockets layer protocol inherently know how to give and receive encryption keys with other applications, as well as how to encrypt and decrypt data sent between the two. While the S-HTTP is an extension protocol of HTTP to support sending data over World Wide Web. Not all Web browsers and servers support S-HTTP. SSL and S-HTTP have very different designs and goals so it is possible to use the two protocols together. Both protocols have been submitted to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) for approval as a standard.

Some applications that are configured to run SSL include web browsers like FireFox, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome, email programs like Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple Mail app., and Secure File Protocol programs, etc. These programs are able to automatically receive SSL connections. To establish a secure SSL connection, however, your application must first have an encryption key assigned to it by a Certification Authority in the form of a Certificate. Once it has a unique key of its own, you can establish a secure connection using the SSL protocol.

These Technologies are mostly used in e-commerce and banking sites to avoid stealing information from the user. Web browsers automatically notify users when connections are insecure. Your potential E-commerce customers and online banking transactions are used to secure shopping and banking process, and will NOT send their private information unless their browser assures them it’s safe to do so! You cannot offer secure authentication to your customers without an SSL or S-HTTP Certificate. There are cheap SSL certificates out there; you can search over the internet.

Here is some information that might help you to determine whether the website you are browsing has a secure connection.

•	When you are logging in at yahoo the left side of your address bar is in colour blue, try to point the mouse over the blue area and it will appear that the website was verified by DigiCert Inc.
•	In google, it is also colour blue and was verified by Thawte Consulting (Pty) Ltd.
•	In other websites, like website of a bank it has a lock icon on the left side of the address bar.

You can easily notice if the site you are browsing is not verified and has no certificate because it will appear an X on the upper left side of the browser. It means it is not safe to feed confidential information. So I hope this will help all of you.

Since I failed the Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) (lol), I have decided to get smart on Cisco again. I have been out of it a long time doing mostly DoD Certification & Accreditation work. I used to be a network engineer with a CCNA, until I found a career that pays better with less competition. So now, I am just doing Cisco stuff for fun.

After failing the CCENT, I talk to my resident networking GURU’s (a CCNA Security, a CCNP and a CCIE). I wanted to know what was the best approach on attacking the CCNA again. They told me what they did.. set up a Cisco lab in the house was he most common answer.

The book they recommended to start with was CCNA-CCNENT ICND1. Its really not the most fun book in the world to read, but if your starting out or starting over with this stuff it should be like your networking bible. Among technical Cisco books, its a solid first start.. which is much more than I can say about any of the first start Cisco’s 5500 ASA books– there is just now such thing. You will be expected to have a solid understanding of networking, the OSI model and TCP/IP. If you have a Comptia Network+, the CCENT might be the logical next step. If you do networking pretty regularly, have been doing it for about a year and are familiar to Cisco equipment, you might be better off going straight to the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA). If you’re going for the fully blown CCNA, the book to get is the CCNA ICND2. I have been warned that you need to very, very good at subneting!! The CCNA is much harder than it was when I took it in 2001. I would even say that the CCENT is harder than the CCNA used to be.

In addition to getting the right books to read, the Cisco Gurus told me to set up a lab.
